History & Significance
The original Shri Mangeshi Temple was located in Kushasthali (modern-day Cortalim) but was relocated to its present location in Mangeshi village during the Portuguese rule in the 16th century to protect it from destruction. The current temple structure was built in the 18th century and has been renovated and expanded over time. The temple has preserved ancient traditions while adapting to modern needs.
Architecture
The temple showcases traditional Goan-Hindu architecture with a blend of Portuguese influences. The main sanctum features a beautiful silver-clad shrine, while the seven-story deepstambha (lamp tower) dominates the skyline.
